Our Services

Air Con Recharging

Air Con Recharging

Your vehicle’s air con system will lose around 10% to 15% of its refrigerant each year. If your system is not serviced for three years you will have lost almost half of the refrigerant.

This means your air con system’s compressor will have to run for much longer to keep your vehicle cool, increasing your fuel consumption.

If your system is not recharged, it is most likely to let you down when you need it most – on really hot days. When the system is low on charge it will not be able to achieve the low temperature required to cool the interior of your vehicle.

Air Con Anti-Bacterial Treatment

Fungus and bacteria will build up in the evaporator core of your system which can cause a strange smell when in use and can trigger an allergic reaction in some people.

It is recommended that your system is cleaned every two years.

Your vehicle’s air con system will be thoroughly cleaned with anti-bacterial treatment as part of your air con service.

Air Con System Servicing

Most vehicle air conditioning systems will lose between 10 and 15% of their refrigerant each year and Manufacturers recommend your air-con system is recharged with gas and lubricant every two years.

Aircon systems not fully recharged will be less effective and have to work harder, putting more strain on the engine and using more fuel.

This service is not part of routine vehicle servicing, so if your vehicle is more than two years old it is probably due a recharge.

FAQs

  • Aircon systems not fully recharged will be less effective and have to work harder putting more strain on the engine and using more fuel.

We can also include a system de-bug to clear bacterial build up from within the system, which will remove any unpleasant odours

  • If your AC is blowing out warm air or only works intermittently, an AC recharge can bring back cold air when you need it most on hot days and can also improve your fuel efficiency as there is less strain on the system and engine. Due to its dehumidifying properties, when operating fully efficiently, your air conditioning system will also de-mist your windscreen more rapidly in cold weather. Unpleasant smells coming from the air vents also suggest that your air con needs some attention in the form of an Air Conditioning Antibacterial Clean which will remove the build-up of bacteria that's responsible for the nasty smells emanating from your air con. In its place, you'll enjoy the cool and clean smelling air that you're used to all summer long.

  • The price you pay for an air conditioning recharge depends on the type of refrigerant gas your car uses. There is two types of refrigerant - R134A and R1234YF. R134A gas is common in vehicles manufactured before 2014. All vehicles with air conditioning manufactured since 1 January 2017 include the new R1234YF. If your air conditioning system requires R134A gas the cost to recharge is £69.99. For vehicles that require R1234YF gas the cost is £139.95 to recharge.

  • It is not possible to switch between gases, in fact, the port to recharge R1234YF models is different to the R134A making it impossible to refill with the incorrect gas.
